Duck on a Rock Sports declares the Indiana Hoosiers college football national champions

Congratulations to the Indiana Hoosiers, the 2025 National Champions, declared by the Duck on a Rock Sports staff.

Apologies to Oregon, the 2024 13-0 Big Ten champs who were the only unbeaten heading into the college football playoff. We didn’t declare a national title for you, which would’ve been your first, because we thought due to the Duck theme, we wouldn’t be taken seriously.

But this year we aren’t pulling any punches. Indiana won a classic Big Ten championship game over No. 1 Ohio State, the defending national champions on Saturday night.

The worst major college football program before Curt Cignetti took over two years ago, now can claim its first national title on the gridiron. Yes there is still a playoff to play, but we yearn for the past when polls by media outlets determined the national champion in college football, and we are bringing it back.

We are also tired of the arguments surrounding the 12-team playoff. The CFP committee is a joke. Head to head matters for some but not all, good losses matter for some but not all, strength of record and schedule matters for some but not all.

ESPN propagandizes for the SEC, Fox does the same for the Big Ten, the Big 12 has to do that for themselves, and the ACC should add UConn to help the conference.

When Fernando Mendoza rightfully holds the Heisman trophy up next week, he should do so as a national champion already, so we made it happen.

Congrats to the Hoosiers, you are now a football school. And if you really don’t want this honor right now, if you do the same thing Oregon did last year in the playoff, hopefully you come back to this post and add the honor to your team’s history, and add clicks to our site.
