UConn Uniform Series, Part 2: The ’90s Bubble Letters UConn Never Wore

The font UConn never wore

Our UConn uniform series enters part two. The UConn men’s basketball team has begun exhibition games, and as the season approaches, Duck on a Rock is releasing a design for the Huskies to rock. This design is inspired by the 1990s UConn bubble script, a font that never quite made its way onto uniforms, but was on plenty of snapbacks and jackets worn by millennials.

Our first jersey designs were UConn football using the basketball piping, like North Carolina uses the basketball argyle.

The UMass connection

These letters may be unique to UConn, but this jersey also takes inspiration from another school. UMass, a UConn football opponent and New England rival (Bring back the U game), wore a font similar to this on their uniforms in the glory days of the Minutemen. I’m not talking about the 1770s, I am referring to the 1990s. The Marcus Camby and John Calipari 1996 vacated Final Four UMass team wore their bubble letter font on jerseys in the 90s. UConn never did. Now is the Huskies’ chance.
